Senior Associate
Aaron is a senior associate at AV8 Ventures supporting the enterprise and fintech/insurtech investing teams by leveraging his technical background as an engineer. Prior to AV8, he worked on self driving vehicle software at NVIDIA and in the CI/CD team at Salesforce as a machine learning engineer.
A native of San Francisco growing up, he’s witnessed the growth of tech in the region while working at his parent’s corner store near Dolores Park. When he’s not busy reading up on the latest tech trends, you can find him learning new recipes, swimming, gaming, and exploring the outdoors.
Aaron received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego.
What drives you to want to help entrepreneurs?
As an engineer in my previous life (although I still code to keep myself sharp), I empathize with the journey to build something extraordinary. I also realize that its only through entrepreneurs that we’ve been able to progress so quickly as the human race. It’s a privilege to be in a position to help founders.
When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I’ve always wanted to be an astronaut and explore the cosmos. Honestly, I still want to but nobody needs a software engineer or venture capitalist on a space mission!
What’s an innovation area you are most excited about?
I’m really excited about what the future holds for computer vision and blockchain technologies. These two pieces of technology have the potential to completely disrupt entire industries and introduce new ways of working and computing.
Someone in history you’d most want to have dinner with?
I’d love to have dinner with Alan Turing and see his response to what modern technology has amounted to. Has it exceeded his wildest expectations?
What was your first job; what was your worst job?
My first job was working at my parents’ corner store a block away from Dolores Park. I was the 10 year-old that rang you up if you visited it before 2013. I used to bus dishes at one of my college’s restaurants and it was also my worst job not because I didn’t like the job, but because it entailed a 20-minute uphill walk to get there.
